Big news and new trailer for "Bunyan" movie

Big news on the Bunyan movie front. The film which was scored by Edward Douglas / Midnight Syndicate will be released in June only with a new title, Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan. You can check out the NEW trailer above.

Axe Giant... is a contemporary take on the tall tale of lumberjack Paul Bunyan. Kids at a first-offenders' boot camp discover that the legend of Paul Bunyan is real and must team up with the local sheriff to stop the 15-foot giant's new rampage of terror.

The movie stars genre vet Joe Estevez, Dan Haggerty (Grizzly Adams), Tom Downey (SyFy's War of the Worlds), and Tim Lovelace (Mosquito). Amber Connor, Jesse Kove, Kristina Kopf (The Dead Matter), Clifton Williams, Victoria Ramos, Jill Evyn, and former WWE wrestler Chris Hahn round out the cast. This is the first major role for Kove, son of veteran actor Martin Kove (The Karate Kid 1-3, Rambo).
The film was produced by Jeff Miller (Ballistica, Hellblock 13) and Gary Jones (The Dead Matter, Xena, Boogeyman 3) along with newcomer and fellow writer Jason Ancona. Robert Kurtzman's Creature Corps handled the bulk of makeup FX, with Kurtzman (creator of From Dusk Till Dawn) and Philip R. Garrett (Horrors of War) joining the team as co-producers. Gary Jones' Acme Art FX created more than 500 visual effects shots for the film.   The official motion picture soundtrack will be released by Entity Productions this year.

"Goons & Greasepaint" invade YouTube

Not for coulrophobics. The Goons & Greasepaint video has been unleashed on YouTube!  Over 100 clowns from some of the most suspect carnivals around the globe would love to meet you...  "This music video montage is a tribute to Midnight Syndicate's fans," said Edward Douglas.  "We asked them to send in their best clown photos and they obliged..."  The video was produced by director Michael Raisch (whose works also appears on The Dead Matter DVD bonus features).   "Mike had a challenge," added Douglas.  "We asked to include as many of the entries as possible.  The problem is the song is only 3 minutes long.  As always though, Mike found a creative way of incorporating these images in a fun, over-the-top, carnival-style."   The video is set to the song Goons & Greasepaint from the award-winning Carnival Arcane CD and features over a hundred clown images sent in by fans.

More big accolades for "Carnival Arcane" from the horror press

This most recent batch of Carnival Arcane reviews include: Rue Morgue, Dark Beauty Magazine, and Halloween Overkill.

Halloween Overkill - "...so infectious that I simply cannot stop listening to it! Midnight Syndicate's use of sound effects mixed with their trademark orchestral sound is cranked up to maximum effect here, 5 out of 5 "Jolly Jack-O-Lanterns" and can officially say it is tied for first as my favorite Midnight Syndicate CD!"

Dark Beauty Magazine (#8) - "...sublime and perfect ...genius and altogether disturbing in the most amusing of ways."

Rue Morgue Magazine (#116) - "Those seeking more than the usual haunted houses and dark castles need look no further. Coulorphobics, however, probably should skip this ride. - 4 skulls"

Hayes Hudson's House of Horror - "Never have kids laughing and singing sounded so scary! While some tracks are just cool, spooky sounding songs, some are very beautiful songs that could easily be used as title music for a big budget, blockbuster film... definitely getting your money's worth with this one!"
